INTRODUCTION
Pakistan International School, Riyadh was established in 1968 as an International School under the Royal permission of King Faisal Bin Abdul Aziz Al-Saud (Late). Previously the school functioned under the Management of the Armed Forces but on 4th December, 1988, it was taken over by the Embassy of Pakistan in Riyadh. The Ambassador of Pakistan is the Ex-Officio Chairman who heads a Board of Governors consisting of 8 members which includes members from the Pakistani Community.
Affiliation
The School is affiliated with the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Islamabad. Syllabus and courses of studies prescribed by the said Board are followed by the School for SSC (Class-X) and HSSC (Class XI, XII) Examinations.
Aims & Objectives
· To impart best possible education to Pakistani children residing Riyadh and its suburbs.
· To impart knowledge on modern lines to the students in accordance with the national objectives and the curriculum syllabus prescribed by the Federal Board of Intermediate and Secondary Education, Islamabad
· To impart religious knowledge so that the students become true Muslims and good Pakistani.
· To equip them with sound knowledge, high standard of moral values, good behaviour and qualities of an ideal citizen.
· To inculcate and develop sound character and leadership traits among the students.
Location
The institution is named as PAKISTAN INTERNATIONAL SCHOOL, RIYADH, K.S.A. It comprises seven separate Wings situated in Nasriya within a radius of about half a kilometer.

Educational Facilities
The School caters for the educational needs of Boys and Girls of Pakistan Community in Riyadh from K.G to Class XII. It maintain a high standard of education and provides a variety of curricular and co-curricular activities for the development of a wholesome and balanced personality of the students. The School is producing excellent results in the Federal Board. Various facilities provided by the School are:-
1. Text Books: Text Books, Practical note Books, Progress Reports are provided by the School on nominal charges.
2. Well Stocked Library & Audio Visual Aids: Library and a reading room have been provided in the girls as well as in the boys wings separately. These libraries contain reasonable number of books on various subjects. Local and Pakistani Newspapers as well as magazines in English and Urdu are also subscribed to keep the students well-informed about local, national and International affairs. Reference Section are also available in these libraries. Maps, charts, Over-head Projectors and others educational aids are also provided to make class room more effective.
3. Science Laboratories:- Science Laboratories exist in both boys and girls wings. These Laboratories are fully equipped with apparatus and the materials required for conducting practical in physics, chemistry, Biology, Computer and Home Economics for Secondary and Higher Secondary Classes.
4. Language Laboratories:- Language Laboratories have been established at (S.B.W-II)-II and (S.G.W-II) to improve spoken proficiency in English and Arabic Languages.
5. Computer Science Laboratories:- Computer Classes for both Boys and Girls have been started in Senior Boys & Girls wings. The Computer Laboratories meant for these classes are equipped with requisite number of Computers. For improving proper training/instructions qualified teachers are available.
6. B.A Coaching Classes for Girls:- Owing to the absent of formal schooling at graduation level, B.A Coaching classes have been started for girls. Trained and qualified staff is engaged for these classes. A reasonable number of students are being benefited by this facility.
7. School Transport :- At present, a fleet of 11 air-conditioned buses is being run by the School and to utilize this transport, the prescribed application form can be obtained from the School Office. The transport charges are SR. 100/ per head/per month, 2 buses are for Pakistani Community at Al-Kharj to pick & drop the students.
Sir Shaukat Amin is the In charge of School Transport. He has well managed the School Transport System.

8. School Canteen:- Each wing of the school has a Canteen. Students can buy eatable and some stationery items from these shops. The standard of cleanliness, food, stuff and prices are kept under strict watch of the administration.
9. Health Service & First Aid:
1. Properly maintained dispensaries/medical rooms have been set up under the supervision of Medical Staff. A qualified Doctor, Male, and Female Nurses are employed as permanent members of the Staff.
2. Arabic Classes:- Arabic is being taught from class I to VIII as a compulsory subject. Qualified Male and Female teachers are teaching Arabic both in boys and Girls Wings.
3. Religious Education:- Religious education in classrooms is supplemented by regular congregational prayers in the School and holding of functions on days of religious significance. Instructions in the recitation of Holy Quran (Nazra ) and functional Arabic Language are imparted.
4. Physical Education:- Proper qualified Staff has been engaged to impart physical training both in Boys and Girls Wings. Games/P.T periods are an essential part of the School Time Table.
5. Activity and Play Rooms:- An Activity Room and Play Room are provided in K.G Wing with Visual aids. Books, Counting apparatus, Models, T.V, VCP, etc. These have proved to be very helpful in developing children’s interest and abilities.
6. School Centre for Different Examination:- The School is offering facility as centre of examination for various Board & University Exams to private candidates of the Pakistan Community.
7. Special Examination Centers:- Special Examination Centres are established presently at Sagrah, Dowadmy, Affif and Al-Kharj. The Management of the school conducts examination at these places. This is a great help to the Pakistan Community residing away from Riyadh.
Admissions
Admissions remain open throughout the year but regularly held in the beginning of the Academic Session and after the Summer Vacation. Being the only regular and recognized educational institution for Pakistani Community in the area, each and every Pakistani applicant is accommodated. An admission Test/Interview is administered to the candidates by Class Teacher/Wing Head. The age requirement for admission to Nursery is 3 & above, KG 4 & above and to class 1.5 & above and so on. Applications for admission are forwarded on the prescribed admission forms enclosed), which can be obtained from the School Office. The following documents are required to be attached with the application:
i. A school leaving certificate from the previous institution attended.
ii. Photocopy of mother’s passport showing name and date of birth of the child.
iii. Photocopy of father’s Iqama and endorsement of the family therein.
iv. Proof of last fee paid in the previous School.
v. A migration certificate from the previous Board in case of students seeking admission in Secondary and higher Secondary Classes.
Medium of Instruction
Provision of both English and Urdu Instruction in separate sections available from classes V-X (for boys and girls)
Academic Report
Result cards showing Monthly Tests, the Mid-Term and Annual Examination result and student’s progress are dispatched to the parents on regular basis.
For promotion to next higher class, a student has to secure at least 33% marks in each subject. Student failing to qualify in any one or more subjects is not given grade.
If a student’s progress and performance remains continuously unsatisfactory and he/she/is not deriving any benefit from his/her stay at the School, the Principal may ask the parents for his/her withdrawal.
Co-Curricular Activities
Co-Curricular Activities play a very important role in the development of a child’s personality. A great deal of emphasis is laid on such activities in the School. All students have been disturbed into different Houses to ensure healthy competition in various activities. The students are encouraged to participate in the following activities:

General School Rules :-
1. The School reserved all the authority to fine, punish or ask a student to leave the School if at any time it is felt that the student’s stay in school is not in the interest of other students or the institution. Such decision is taken on the recommendation of the Discipline Committee and the Wing Head concerned. The decision of the Principal is final and cannot be challenged. The school gates are closed at 07:45 A.M after that nobody is allowed to enter the school.
2. Students must strictly adhere to punctuality. Late comers are liable to be punished. Those who remain absent from the school without permission for 10 days or days or more, shall be struck off the school rolls. For absence without leave a fine of SR. 1/- per day is imposed.
3. Parents or visitors are not allowed to meet or contact any student without obtaining prior permission of the Headmaster/ Headmistress concerned.
4. Students suffering from contagious or infectious diseases are not permitted to attend classes.
5. Parents are expected to see that their children turn up properly and do their home work regularly.
6. If a student damages the school property wilfully or mischievously, he/ she is required to pay the damages in addition to any punishment awarded by the Wing Head / Principal.
7. Students are not permitted to keep their possession the audio / video cassettes, video games, large amount of money or valuables or any other item, not required essentially in the classroom while in the school.
8- The Students coming Late or not in proper uniform / hair cut ( Boys) are not allowed to attend classes.
9- The tuition fee must be paid in advance regularly whether the student is attending or availing approved leave or is being absent.
10- Zohar Prayer is compulsory for all students in the school.
11- All are expected to speak Urdu 0r English in the School.
12- No student can leave the School premises during the School hours without written permission of the Wing Head concerned.
13- Incase of an accident or any physical mishap during school hours, all efforts are made to contact the parents and the best available first aid is provided by the School but no claim for any compensation whatsoever shall be entertained.
ELIGIBILITY TO APPEAR IN THE BOARD EXAMS.

Requirements
1. A certificate by the Head of the Institution that candidate possesses good character and conduct.
2. Has satisfactorily performed the work of the class throughout the academic year preceding the examination.
3. Has attended not less than 75% of the full course of studies in each of the subject in which he/ she desires to appear.
4. Has completed 75% of the periods assigned to the practical work in a subject having practical.
Note: The attendance of the candidate shall be counted from the beginning of the academic session up to the 14th day preceding the commencement of the examination or the close of session, which ever is earlier.
Rehearsal Test, for the students to appear in the Board Exam is compulsory.
